What is the focus of your office?

While we are a general practice, Dr. Moberly has studied extensively in occlusion, bite issues, and esthetics. He specializes in reconstruction of badly broken-down mouths and TMJ disorders.

Are you taking new patients?

Yes. We welcome new patients.

Do you do everything or do you refer to a specialist?

We are primarily a preventative and restorative/reconstructive based practice. Dr. Moberly believes in having our patients get the best care for their specific condition. Along this line we work closely with a select few specialists to provide root canals (endodontist), periodontal treatment (periodontist), braces (orthodontist), and surgery (oral surgeon).

Do you do implants?

Yes. Implants are one of the more exciting advances in the field of dentistry. It allows us to replace missing teeth without utilizing removable dentures or grinding down the adjacent teeth for a bridge. Dr. Moberly has extensive experience in restoring many implant systems. We work closely with surgeons to make sure the implant is placed in the correct position and then we will place the final crown or bridge.

Do whitening toothpastes work?

In general, no. Most whitening toothpastes have been formulated to be slightly more abrasive and therefore remove stain on the outside surface of the teeth. To truly change the color of your teeth, whitening agents need to be in contact with your teeth for much longer that you usually brush your teeth. Because they are more abrasive, please use whitening toothpaste with caution as they can damage your tooth enamel.

Are silver (amalgam) fillings safe?

Amalgam (a mixture of silver and mercury) fillings have been used in dentistry for over 150 years. The latest research and evaluation by the American Dental Association maintains that amalgam is safe for use in teeth. We watch the research closely and still feel that amalgam is safe for long term use in patient’s teeth. If patients have concerns about amalgam and wish to use silver and mercury-free restorations they are available.

What are the alternatives to silver (amalgam) fillings?

Instead of silver fillings we can use composite (tooth-colored plastic), porcelain, or gold fillings. There are advantages and disadvantages for every filling material used in the mouth. Please ask us if you have questions.
